Post subject: Sydney, Victoria Road - groups lobbying for "Bus Only&q
Archived from groups: aus>motorcycles (more info?)

As reported by local papers, there's been a push to have a "Bus Only" lane
on Victoria Road.

Should this be successful, this of course would prevent motorcyclists from
using them.

(refresher....
BUS LANE...bikes, taxis, hire cars, buses
BUS ONLY .... buses only)

It is possible that the local media is ignorant of the difference and has
misreported the lobbying efforts.

Seems one for the MCC of NSW rep to have a look at. For bike riders, Vic
road would be fabulous if it had BUS LANES and appalling if BUS ONLY.

Fuck this would be the end of the world. Once they started with Bus Only
lanes they would spread. Bus Lanes are fantastic things we should do
everything to preserve. Bus Only lanes are truly evil.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Friggin great

A Lane that would get used every ??? 10 to 15 mins...??

I can't believe the mentality of some people ... why don't they make more
car drivers use buses... the times I sit in congested traffic in my Semi
trailer and nearly every car has only one occupant! And before you bloat I
am a bike rider as well.

Give us an address so we can lobby against this.

Mark

This first came to my attention in a late March edition of Northern
Districts Times. I jvst checked 30th March ed bvt mvst have been the
pre-Easter edition arovnd 23rd.

I specifically recall ..with some alarm...the phrase "bvs only" lanes being
campaigned for.

Latest edition makes no specific mention on the type of lane bvt wovldnt
want it to slip in vnder the radar...

text as follows....

Northern District Times - April 6

Page 3, "Drivers Say Thanks", right colvmn.

"Bvs drivers are handing ovt thanks notes to passengers who have svpported
their campaign for bvs lanes on Vic road.
The drivers, from Ryde and other gov depots along vic road, have been
overwhelmed by the pvblic's svpport. according to Tram and Bvs Union
president Peter Jenkins. The vnion is now trying to arrange meetings with
local covncils and the RTA. "

It's always nice to know that I can supply my own insults for people who don't
have the mental capacity to think of a suitable insult themselves. If you
want to really hurt my feelings just let me know and I'll change my email
address to something which will make me cry... maybe nospam.TakeThisOut@mindless.com or
yzrm1.TakeThisOut@tgp.com.au ... ouch that hurts just thinking about it.. you're such a
big bully.

That'd be so sweet is they had Bvs Lanes, bvmmer if it was BUS ONLY, bvt I
dovbt it. There's no where in Sydney I can think of with an "extended" BUS
ONLY lane system in operation (ie, 10 - 20km etc)

Have you ever been to Brisbane? They've built dedicated Bus Roads - not just
lanes but seperate bus roads. Crazy.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Thing funny part is that if there was a campaign, we'd have an army of
cabbies on our team. I don't know if I'd feel comfortable with that
situation.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
