A while back I need a new tubes for one of the toys , a very old toy
and none available , on speaking to a local machine shop I found an
existing tube stock could be made to fit in a lathe with some machining
, only problem was getting hard chrome when sorted and it was affordable
I am surprised no one suggested this avenue .

That's the later series to my Sprint so none of the parts would've been

You know who's almost always the first place to get back to me from a
find-a-part request? Metros...

You _could_ make yourself look stupider and less worth paying attention
to than you have in this thread, but _geez_ you'd have to try!

Thanks Big. Good to know that they've helped you. That doesn't
necessarily mean they've responded to me though, does it ?

Thanks for the kind words Smile

And just to recap for everyone who hasn't been paying attention.
Yeebers asked a question in another thread (You know, on usenet, where
people pay nothing to ask questions and get free answers). Then, in
this thread, he got the answer to the question indirectly. Now its been
pointed out to him that there are other places to seek the answer to his
question, and he's whinging and bitching about how he didn't get very
good value for money from his original question... and gaining much
respect...

Thanks Atec but hey, if I'm not an expert with 0 experience in such a
thing and my first time in said situation, I'm apparently stupid or
something. Next time I know a place to look, that's a start.

When I initially posted, a simple 'try metro spares in sydney' woulda
been good.

If anyone's going to boil it down it's you, Nev. Ta. However I get the
feeling you're a little wrong on the last sentence. Smile

Well we all start somewhere.. and there are a couple of persons in
here who feel rather huge about these things...
Making a new one is often surprisingly cheap but these days doing so
or even finding a part that might fit let alone one that actually fits
can be challenging ...
Maybe just swapping to another front end might have been an option , if
nothing else the problems with parts highlight lack of certain things
with this brand and might even be relevant to many others ?
