Hey guys!

I've always been able to fix my 2-stroke dirt bikes but my 2-stroke
Lawn/Garden Blower stopped running and I'm at a loss! It started to
bog and then cut out (over about a 15 second period). I figure "Fuel,
Air and Spark" are the things to check. I make sure that fresh fuel
is in the tank, a new fuel filter is installed and pump the primer to
see that fuel is sucking up the tube. I check the Air Filter and it's
clean. I replace the Spark Plug. Still it won't run... It's only a
year and a half old and doesn't get much use.

What else could be wrong that I should look at???

Dang! If it was my YZ I'd have it running by now!!! Wink Seriously,
anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks!

Trev

With the choke off, use a little starting fluid. Fine tune the carb
once its running. If that doesn't work, hit the carb with some
compressed air to clear any loose dirt that may be blocking a jet.

With hard starting bikes we've been known to pull them behind a truck
on a strap. Not sure if that works on leaf blowers. <G>

After 10+ years of faithful service, my Sears Craftsman 2-stroke weed
eater started bogging & quitting.

I got the rebuild kit from Sears and rebuild the fuel pump & the old
weed whacker is back online Smile

Try the basics:

1. Does it have spark?

2. Is the plug covered with fuel?

there ainīt much else to look at...
Just treat it like itīs a YZ (but donīt show up at the dirtpark with it).
Check if spinning the engine doesnīt take more(or less) force than
usual...(rings broken/seizure).
Dissasemble the carb and clean it, spin the cranckshaft a bit while the
sparkplug is lying on the cylinderhead to see if it sparks.
Checkout the breakerpoints in the ignition, and any wires or cables attached
to the engine.
Goodluck,

Grtz, P1

Maybe someone could "suck start" it.

last thing you could check is the muffler, if possible take it off see if it
will run?
it can fill with crap and cause the engine to not run at well if blocked,
would have to be pretty blocked I would think, but then again no flywheel to
speak of, not much for idle either I assume? I had a Lawnboy mower get
itself blocked up with "oil-combustion residue" & grass... dunno about your
blower and its muffler likeliness, but????

I had a WeedEater brand whacker that would cut out when you opened the
throttle. It also didn't like to idle. I looked at the reed valve,
and it was shot - there was too much clearance between the reed and
the seat. So I just flipped it over since it's spring metal and it
helped. But I think that the real problem is that it developed a
crankcase air leak. So it's running but it's definitely seen better
days! Then again, it's about 11 yrs old.
