*sigh*
This has High Suck. Truckloads of it.
One things I've learned about what I LIKE about motorcycle racing, is I like
the progress through the championship. For example, while there's a
statistical chance that Mladin could lose the championship, it's completely
unlikely, and thus makes watching the races pretty much unimportant.
Watching Aaron cruising behind Mat in 5th place will be dull dull dull.
FX is done, and hasn't been really compelling this year anyway, unless you
like watching poor Jake suffer.
SSport is similar to SBike. Tommy has to show up, he has to do well, but he
just needs to stay close to Roger in position, doesn't have to actually beat
him, just keep him in sight.
SStock, however, that is THE humdinger right now. That's the race I'm
interested in because the top 3 guys have to go all out, or lose it. This
championship can very easily be a last corner sprint to the line. I just
wish we had the SBK announcers, as the lead guy there is way more excitable
than the Speed Wonks. (Freddie -- fine rider, world champion, terrible
announcer...just horrible).
Now, knowing "who wins" will be completely unsatisfactory as a spectator.
Even though only the last lap matters, I'm sure I'll be pins and needles all
race until it becomes decided (which may well happen midway, someone could
break away, or whatever). But if I hear who actually won that championship
before watching it, it will ruin the whole race for me. It's a total toss
up, IMHO, and that's what will specifically make THIS SStock VERY
interesting.
So, I think it's particularly rude for Speed to be playing with the
schedule, and having to wait so long to see the SStock race.

Will Hartung
