I stopped by Aftershocks in Palo Alto on Friday to drop off my shock
to be serviced. Phil (Owner) was in the back working on his new shock
dyno. He spent a week in North Carolina learning to use it and in the
last few days haveing jigs mage to work with all different types of
shocks and forks. The whole thing is very cool and will now show you
the differences in valving in a graph. I hung out and watched a set
of GSXR 600 forks get dyno'd, revalved and dyno'd again. Based on the
customers complaint, you could pick out the flaw on the base run
graph. After the revalve and 2nd run, you could see the change and
expect better suspension action.

I was also told to bring in my forks for the new and improved valving.
I can't wait to see the pre and post dyno charts. Phil has always
taken very good care of me as a sponsored rider.

Saving this post... the rear suspension on the Kaw is killing me. I stand
more on that some days than I do the XR:)

Kewl, but not new. I remember seeing shock dyno traces on an occiloscope
back in the '70s.

It is a cool idea. I don't expect magic. Phil told me that if he can
find another piston (old Husky spec) for my Ohlins shock, that I will
be extreamly happy with the results. The rebound can definitely be
better. As for my bike being all new, well that's cool too except it
will still look like a 4 year old enduro bike that is beat. A
sleeper! I may be ordering another set of custom graphics for it
before the Coalinga National Enduro. I liked having my name on my
bike. It makes it easier to figure out which bike is mine after
crashing my brain into mush. Smile
