Has anyone actually sat on both? I'm interested in the 650, but my
dealer only had the 1000, which I can't flat-foot. He says the 650 is
the same. True?

I remember reading a review that said the seat height on the 650 is lower
but I think it was by maybe only a centimeter.

Apparently some guys also do a mod of adjusting the forks up ~15mm to drop
the front end down a bit, that ought to help slightly as well.

One day in rec.motorcycles, Also Sprach P T:

I've only been interested in the 650, which I *can* flat-foot, and I'm
5'10. I was surprised. It's a tall (what) 33"? Has anyone heard of a
taller seat? I think the 1000 is the same.

I can flat foot them both.

But I'm 6'3...

The 650 is about an inch lower in the seat -

Both are kind of odd looking bikes, but I like them...

No Bandit, tho...

Like Charles said, the 650 seat height is about one inch lower than on
the DL1000. I believe one can put the lower 650 seat right on the 1000 if
you wish to do so. Also like Charles, I'm 6' 3" so the DL1000 fits me
very well. As a matter of fact the DL1000 fits me better than any
motorcycle I've ever owned.
