I buy the big rolls of electric fence wire. It works great as safety
wire, and surprisingly enough, for repairing my electric fence.
You can get it at any big hardware store, like home depot, over in the
livestock/pet section. If you aren't in a rural area, look around the
leashes, bark collars, and other doggy torture devices. If you are in a
MAN's state, go strait to the 'lectric fence aisle.

First you have to be able to spell it correctly. Try *safety* wire. I
get my .028" wire from Lockhart Phillips (roadrace supply) I think it
retails for about $17 for a 1 lb can (lasts a *long* time).

So it's *safety* and not just plain safety. That make perfect sense.

I think I got my last roll at a NAPA auto parts store. They had a
display on the shelf for about $1.00/roll if I remember correctly.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Saftey wire source |

How much do you need? I have 400 ft spool of .03 SS that will last me
until 2025. I can send you some if you want.
Cheers

Mike,
MX Tuner is speaking to the spelling in the header. I feel so helpful.

Harbor Freight tools. Still seems way too much, but probably
far less than the bike shops. I have a hunch that they sell
safety wire pliers at a loss, then more than make up for the
cost in selling you wire (which never seems to go on sale).

I bought mine at Ace Hardware... it's probalby not official *safety*
wire, but it works just fine. Maybe $6 or so.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Saftey wire source |

Lowes and Home Depot also carry it in the fastener section. Galvanized,
plain steel, stainless, and copper. I paid about a dollar and a half for
enough to wire up an entire airplane.

Yeah I know, but fun is fun! I am a repeat offender of mis-spelled
and mis-typed words. If this was for work I would be proof reading my
post and running a spell check. But because it's not and everyone
knows what I was talking about, I don't care. Mark was just busting
my balls. I would expect nothing less.
