SV1000 Review? - Has anyone riden the SV1000 (not the S version)?

Why is the SV1000 so unpopular? - Suzuki can't seem to sell-out the 2003 SV1000. Suzuki even dropped the naked SV1000 from it's 2004 offering. Any thoughts on why the SV1000 is so yet the SV650 sells well?

SV1000 numb arms! - Maybe it's me, or maybe it's the bike, but after 5 hours on my SV, I felt numb. Would rising the bars up maybe 1/2 in help? I'm 38 now.

Help - I'm hoping maybe somebody can help me, I've got a 86 zx600 basket case that I put together last fall. The bike ran pretty good but make sure was set-up right (it was in boxes for 7 or 8 years) I took it to the local bike shop and had the..

So I'm perusing my favorite dealer's website looking at the list of new
bikes and saw something that struck me as odd. I didn't see a listing for
the SV1000S. Hmm. "Well, maybe it was an oversight. I'll just check Suzuki's
website." I go to Suzuki.com look under motorcycles, and see the SV1000S
listed....oh wait, its a 2007. There's no 2008 SV1000S?! They dropped the
big SV from their list? Why? Were sales of the bike *that* bad? Everyone
I've ever spoken to about the bike just loved it, including myself! Is it
because its not the AMA/SuperSport whatever champion? Its it because its not
the 9.89/147MPH in the 1/4 mile rocket? Is it because its just ugly? Not
enough plastic? What?

Probably sales weren't high enough to justify the costs of certifying
the bike. Ducati dropped the Super Sport line-up (originally 600ss,
750ss, and 900ss, most recently 620 Sport, 800 Sport/SS and 1000SS)
for this model year, and it had been in their line since 1991.

Someone said earlier that they were being dropped because they couldn't pass
the 2008 Euro emission standards (a big market). They also said the SV-1000
or old 1997 TL-S motor was being redesigned so that it would pass and also
provide better fuel economy. I don't know the exact details but the new
engine has longer intake tracks and a longer stroke (SS1000V or something
like that). It's about time they changed that old beast anyway. Ask Troy
about that jackhammer engine compared to his 650. Then maybe all 1 liter or
plus twins feel like a jack hammer when you accelerate or decelerate.

Ride the new 1125R. It's silky smooth up to about 9500 RPM, where you
get a bit of buzz in the bars.

Hey Steve does the 1125r feel quicker off the line than the old air
cooled bikes? The same throttle reponse on the midrange? More? Now if
Erik can squeeze the MPG out of this motor and put it in a standard
Lightning type bike I may take a look at it despite the routine valve
adjustments. I am hoping Mr. Buell can sell a bunch of them.

That's right.

It is in final R&D now, with VVT (Valvetronic) technology. Slightly
better power, 30% (alleged) better fuel economy, and less emissions.

The big four have to make all their bikes Euro3 emissions compliant.
That's why you see so many monstrous exhaust cans on big bore
performers as of '07.

I'm psyched for the new SV1000 VVT engine. They'll likely redesign
the SV and DL1000 V-Strom with this new engine.

Sorry to see it go, and hope it'll be back.

Any news on this ? I'm considering selling my YZF1000RJ and buy a
SV1000. Unfortunately I'm having difficulty in finding out what the
actual status is.

Suzuki is notoriously slow on releasing new bikes. I'd keep your
current ride until you get word from a reliable dealer, if the new SV
is your next bike of choice. It may be six months.

Thanks for the advice. I s'pose this is what I'll be doing though it
means I'll get to do two more tire changes and a valve adjustment on
the YZF1000.
