Positive that it's not a 318is? Because then I'd definite be
interested. Otherwise, unfortunately not.

318i is a plodding 8v, 90bhp-or-somesuch, cooking model for people who
want the badge and don't need a sporty car.

318is has a 136bhp 16v engine, uprated suspension, Recaro seats and
isn't called the 'mini-M3' for nothing.

The 318is has roughly the same power as the 320 but is far better
balanced because the engine is lighter.

> He didn't say it was an ess but I'll check with him again tomorrow.

It probably is a 318i unfortunately but not it doesn't hurt to ask,
especially as they were made in 1990 & 91.

Does that make any difference on an E36?
(aside from the iS being a coupe, that is)

On a K-plate, it'll be an early E36. If I were you, I'd pass at this
point....

And the iS having about 20bhp more and much better suspension from what
I can see from a quick google search.

Yes, but the 'mini-M3' comment only applies to the E30 - the E36 is
noticeably heavier and the is engine struggles a bit with the weight.

Didn't he mention it being a '91? That would make it an E30...

E36 318is don't really seem to be worth bothering with, you're right
about that.

Right, I didn't know that.
I don't think it had Recaro seats when I sat in it? But I'll check with him
tonight. He's sorting his Mum's funeral plans at the moment.
