New Cruiser-type mag... can't remember the name... anyway, the Victory
Tourer outstripped the Road Glide in comfort, power, etc in a head-to-
head. The Victory is more expensive than the Road Glide by a grand and
it does look rather - as the article stated - "take-me-to-your-
leader", but they said that the fiaring was tested in a wind tunnel
and that there is a stillness behind it comapred to the buffeting and
cold the harley demo rider felt. Additionally, the Victory comes with
heated grips, heated seat, adjustable flaps on the fairing, an
electrically adjustable windshield, cruise control, and an MP3 sound
system, whereas the Harley has some only some of that stuff, but then
again, Harley riders don't seem like a bunch who cotton to electric
this and that. Interesting article and if you can get past the looks
of that Victory, well...

That's right. I think the Jetsons are given the credit for that one.

It wasn't Porsche who designed the Victory line, either.

Getting past the look is a big hurdle. Just can't imagine being seen on
that one.

BTW, "Motorcycle Cruiser" is the name of the mag. It and "Road Runner"
are the only two I subscribe to.

Agreed. I couldn;t bring myself to spend $21K on something I
didn'tlike looking at when it was parked, whihc is part of the reason
I really like HD's RK. It's a bike you can admire parked in the garage
or riding across the state.

I was able to spend time up close with the Victory at a recent cycle
world motorcycle show. It was impressive looking, but REALLY looked
long. Had some cool design features.

The thing I noticed- the fit and finish (more the fit part) wasn't up
to par. One thing you have to give harley, even for it's "always
retro" look is that it works- bags work, high build quality, no
cheezy covers or weld seams, etc... The plastic on the victory wasn't
solid, wasn't great closing on the bags, wasn't a good of a touring
rig as the harley in the comfort dept, etc.

I do give victory credit for the bold style and attempt to define them
over other makers. I think they really need to step it up and make the
bike WORTH $20k.

I'm a stickler for high quality when paying the price. It was very
hard for me to go from a ST100 to a FJR1300 because the fit, finish,
and function of the ST was far better overall. I still went with the
FRJ for the performance, but miss the bag quality, tight body panels,
and solid overall feel (must be wy it's a pig on the scale)
