Does anyone have any ideas for dirt riding areas around Pittsburgh,
PA? Looking for something basic to start with, for my son. Does
anyone know if the area around Harmerville is still active? It was an
incredible place to ride 10 years back or so.

Has anyone been to the Slippery Rock Dunes outdoor park? Looks
interesting place to check out.

Thanks, Dan

Dan,

I don't know how old your son is or what size bike he rides, but
there's a motocross track up Rt.8 north of Butler (going towards
Slippery Rock) called Switchback. I haven't been there since last
summer (as a spectator) but I believe they have a separate track for
kids riding 50's, etc. Also, on practice nights, I think they clear
the main track once in awhile to allow only the kids to ride. But
that might be more daunting if there are a lot of kids there that
night.

I just read about Slippery Rock dunes in the local paper the other
week, I've been wanting to get there but my schedule and my friends'
schedules haven't worked out yet on the weekends. When I make it
there maybe I'll post my experience.

I know it's alittle farther than what you would like but here is a great
place for all ages and I really enjoy going here to ride and to watch so it
might be something you could make a weekend out of. They have a place to
camp also.
