Always nice to find old cases full of cds that you long since forgot
about and just finally get around to ripping years later.

Clint Black still makes for good riding music Smile

MP3 player? What's that? Smile

I still use Minidisc. They don't make an MP3 player big enough to hold
my entire collection. As it is, I need to swing by Office Max tomorrow
for one of those $60 160gb drives they have on sale because I'm running
out of room again.

How long do you plan to be on the road?
I have roughly 4 gigs of a 5 gig player full and that is 1178 tunes.
At an average of say 4 minutes each that is over 78 hours of music.
You can always switch it around from time to time too.

If you're going to spend 78 hours on the road I recommend a plane
ticket.

No kidding.
That is all the variety I need.
I just took a little of each of my favourites and a few others for a
change up and set it to random.

I never know what I want to listen to, so I would want to bring it all.

I've just about given up on riding music. The last trip, I had a bunch
of good music, but I never turned it on. I like listening to the
ambient sounds of the road.

If I ever get really bored, I can always hear the TeleTubbies tune in
my head.

Does it drown out the whining of Hui Malama (some of us are following that

Happens to me as well, except it's often clashing genres. I have
a 40gig iPod, and it's full of a variety of stuff. It's hard for me
to listen to it when set to random.

It'll go from a high energy System of a Down song, to a Trisha
Yearwood love ballad, to some generic eurodance, to Bob Marley,
then to Mozart...

Drives me flipping nuts!

I do the same with my ipod but I swear the damn thing has a seed in it
to randomly select my least favorite tunes in the bunch!

Funny you should say that. The last time I used it on an extended ride
I kept going "What the hell is that?" Smile

Mine either. I just sync up my playlists; the vintage 20GB Ipod seemed
very big at one point. Then I ripped my boxes of CDs.

The Shuffle on the iPod is pretty good, compared to some of the
competition. I had a Rio Volt CD/MP3 player that on "shuffle" just mixed
up the tracks the same way every time.
