I'm heading to Germany. Is there anywhere to ride my dirt bike near
Spangdahlem? What are the registration requirements?

Thanks!

You might ask this question in de.rec.motorrad. I can only advise
locations in the bavarian area and in/around Berlin.

Have a nice journey!

I lived in Germany for 8 years. It is difficult to find open riding as we
know it here.

There are motocross tracks, but you will probably have to join a club to
ride them.

I used to travel to Italy to get a good ride in. I understand that France
also has a more enlightened attitude towards trail riding. Spang is close
to France, IIRC.

Check it out:

If you are going courtesy of Uncle Sam, or under contract to DoD, you will
have to register your vehicles with USAREUR. I used to ride my CR250 around
with an old Ohio plate, and nobody ever seemed to care, but I never tried to
go on base that way.

I recommend buying a bike here and having it shipped in your household
goods. Bike prices are high over there.

Mike,

I have a friend in Italy that rides a lot of awesome terrain. Unfortunately
he doesn't speak a whole lot of English, we communicate using email language
translators, which turns out kind of humorous at times. I have no idea where
in Italy it is that he rides but if you're interested I can get specifics
for you. He sends me photos of their rides and the terrain is a lot like WVa
only it's almost all single track. I know him well enough that I'm sure he'd
really enjoy taking you out on their trails. Let me know if I can help hook
you guys up for a ride.
