Thanks for the input Guys.
I Googled it as well, and seems my best bet is the hair dryer/Goo Gone
combo. The tank is on the bike right now, as it is still being ridden.
I suppose I should drain it before taking the hair dryer to it. lol

Unless you're planning on using the hairdryer with the filler cap off
and a full tank of fuel, I don't think this will be necessary.

A full tank would be more safe than anything short of a dry one that
has been well vented long enough for the fuel to flash off completely.
A few gallons of gas will disapate the heat better. It is the fuel
fumes that are the hazzard not the liquid.

If you are going to warm the metal ( which is the plan ), the
tank should be empty. Otherwise, the heat will just transfer to the
liquid.

No, the plan is to heat and soften the stickers. Heat, soften, scrape.
Works for me.

Use a hairdryer and a credit card (one of your wife's preferrably) and don't
worry about the gas, it doesn't get that hot. It's probably a good idea to
do it in a well ventilated area. I've done this before and have yet to win
a Darwin award. >> Stay informed about: Restoring A Tank - Sticker Removal? |

But a hairdryer has a motor that *sparks*.
WD-40 melts right through gummy adhesive, great idea.
Monofilament fishing line, or something like dental floss, may cut
cleanly beneath the sticker without flaking it off bit-by-bit. >> Stay informed about: Restoring A Tank - Sticker Removal? |

FFS, the bloody bike has a motor that sparks, and innumerable electrical
gubbins that do as well.
As long as you don't pour the fuel all over the hairdryer, you're fine.
Sheesh. Some people.

Sure, inside a sealed cylinder. And *kaboom* happens in there.

Few. They don't draw gasoline vapor thru themselves.

Fumes, dip. Special flashlights, with sealed switches, are made for use
in explosive environments. Why do you suppose?

But you go ahead and run a hairdryer next to your open gas tank. >> Stay informed about: Restoring A Tank - Sticker Removal? |
