My local dealer does not discount for cash & has quoted me a changeover
price of around $27K trading in my '05, 30thouKm Blackbird on a
K1200GT.Komfort.
Not what I would consider a realistic offer. ( presentRRP 30,750+ORC)
Ayone know of another NSW BMW dealer that will offer a cash discount with or
without the trade-in?

I hate to have to break the news to you Gump, but the days of getting a
discount for cash have long gone for things like new BMWs.

It might still work for buying dope, but not 30 grand of BM.

They have subtly hinted that they don't want your Blackbird, and, at any
reasonable price, nobody else wants your Blackbird either, since Honda
themselves neatly undercut Blackbird prices.

AFAIK, no other BM dealer is likely to undercut the BM prices. You may
find that they'll have some wiggle room about pricing accessories (non
BM) but I doubt it.

Think of it as them doing you a favour.

What can a K1200GT do four imes better than a Blackbird?

regards,
CrazyCam

Enable a couple in their mid-sixties to continue long distance touring in a
reasonable degree of comfort.
Our most recent trip from the NSW North Coast to Adelaide then along the Gt
Ocean Rd to Melbourne & back home convinced us that the XX is a little too
harsh on our aging bones.
Wanting comfort, longevity, reliability & a reasonable degree of performance
with minimal maintenance I've decided to spend the extra cash for what will
probably be my last large motorcycle.

Yep;
"Had a look at a new Honda Blackbird & the BMW equivalent in
capacity/performance (forget the model designation) & test rode both.
Found I could have purchased two new Blackbirds for around $2K less than the
one BMW.
Now 18 months & over 30,000K later I've yet to experience a single problem
with the 'Bird..."

Why would you want a BMW when a Blackbird is so completely adequate?

So, in your opinion there are no other bikes out there that would suit
your needs for under $30,000?

Is the suspension the issue?
You could spend a few grand on suspension on the budgie, then a new
custom seat, raised bars, and keep 25,000 in your bank for
travelling...

Could spend a bit and find out it still isn't what you need or wanted.

Im sure for $10k he could make it more than he wanted, and still be
better off Razz

Yep, 2 years back after pricing the Beemers I said exactly that, sold my K75
then went ahead & bought the bird .
Despite handlebar risers & a modified seat with extra padding & a dead sheep
I still appreciate a rest every 2 hours while the missus starts hinting for
a rest stop every hour or so by our 2nd day on the road.
I've ridden most of the Jap offerings over the years & the K75 was the only
bike I've had that I could ride non-stop all day without fatigue.
So yesterday I took a Kumfort demo for an extended test ride, finding it
rather bland after the bird but much more comfortable. .
2-up extended touring for weeks on end is our objective & electric/auto
suspension adjustment, cruise control, heated grips & adjustable handlebar
height are added attractions.
However I was still baulking at the price tag but this arvo after a little
horse trading I was offered the fully equipped demo (7,00k on the clock) for
just under $22K. Pick it up in the morning...

Mate, even if they gave me four motorcycles of my choice, absolutely
free, living in the US is too high a price.
