It still is chrome, unless the chrome peeled off, or if your pipe never
was chromed. That golden color is a result of heat and is likely not an
abnormal condition.

Is the bike new? What make/model?

If it's only one pipe turning color, your carbs aren't balanced.
Betcha a nickel your left jug is running a bit lean.
