One reason his career might be in jeoprody is, he probably signed a

I'm thinking that if I were good enough to play any professional sport
for any professional team, I'd only have to play 1, maybe 2 seasons
before I could retire comfortably
Yes, it's a bit off the subject, but I'm in that kinda mood tonight...

What can I say? NBA stars have good taste in bikes.
Maybe it's the iconoclast in me that soldiers on with the R1, despite the
negative squidly connotations. Trying to disprove the perception that "only
squids ride R1s". I'm probably the only R1 rider in a 30 mile radius that
sucks at wheelies.
But I might also be the only one to have ridden one on a 5000 mile solo road
trip. Wheelies aren't that impressive by comparison.
Dang it, Bob... here you go, rubbing salt in my paper cut. My bike's STILL
not back together yet (parts en route) and it's driving me nuts! Saw some
good Isle of Man TT footage today, though, so that made me happy.

Around here it's R1s and Gixxers that squids throw around.

cept most of the players get "n." rich and spend all their money before they get it... so
the 2 years isnt nearly enough. Its sad. Youd think with 1 mill a year you could easily
retire in a few with a decent bankroll to live on the interest.

I read the median pay for major league base player is about 450K. That's
quite a lot of money, true, but it's at least $250-$300K for a nice house
most places, which is depressing.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: NBA player bins it. |

Good point. I worked it out once and at 24 I could have lived the rest
of my life, comfortably, if someone dumped $750k on my doorstep. Buy
the house, pay off the cars (did that part), a few wise investments,
and live off interest and dividends. Now that I have a wife and a kid
and a half, it's more like $2M for the same thing Women and kids
are expensive.
I remember when I could pack for a weekend in a shoebox. Now a 2 day
trip requires renting a Uhaul.

I follow economic news, and it seems they expect housing prices to
fall. Maybe, Sometime.

Don't feel too bad, Bob. I'm surprised at how easily I've adapted to driving
instead of riding. Plus I need to focus some energy on packing and moving.
If the bike were in fine shape and the weather looked good, I'd skip the
packing in favor of a ride. As it is, the bike's still busted and today we
had thunderstorms. But did I pack? Nope. PS2... Gran Turismo. Sometimes it's
fun to procrastinate.

We're in the process of buying our house right now. It's not a mansion
on the lake surrounded by shieks and movie stars, but it's quiet out
here, the people are friendly, and it's definately not a shack. We're
trying to get it appraised for around $90k (the higher the better),
but we're paying $65k for it. The rest goes towards a carport since
we're out of room in the garage, a pool, and some landscaping.
But if I made $450k/year I can promise that I'd have to buy the vacant
lot behind us for another garage. I don't have room for the dozen
bikes I'd buy

Interest rates are below 5% right now. That's roughly the same thing
as the price being lower. As for actual selling price, it varies so
much with location that it's tough to make a broad statement about it.
Prices are falling a few miles from here ($150k and up), but rising
around me (up to ~$110 from $85). Right now we're wanting the price to
be high so we wind up with more equity, but that sucks for taxes.
