I'm looking for recommendations (or warnings) about any of these "motorcycle
only" or "motorcycle specialist" insurance companies. After comparing
quotes to my American Family policy, I've found some are higher, like Geico,
and some are lower, like Bike-Line by Markel American Insurance.

They all have pretty much the same rating by A.M. Best, but I don't
subscribe to their Insurance Rating service so I can't get any details. Has
anyone had any overwhelmingly positive or negative experiences filing claims
or dealing with these type of insurance companies?

Please remove the "nospam" from my email address if you don't reply to this
newsgroup.

Thanks,
Dan

Rates vary from state to state and from zip code to zip code within a state.
The ONLY way to compare prices is for you to do it, if one company is low in
one state they may not be low in your state.

A. M. Best only rates the financial strength of an insurance company, it's
important because it tells you the company won't go broke the day before you
make a claim but it won't tell you how you'll be treated.

The best way to insure fair treatment from an insurance company is NOT to
pick the company, it's to pick the agent. If your house, car, life, etc are
all insured through one agency (might be several different companies) that
agent is the guy who'll go to bat for you when you have a claim.

Direct writing companies like Geico or companies with captive agencies like
State Farm may be a bit harder to deal with when you have a claim. An
independent agent can hammer the company to give you a better settlement and
then find you a new company for next year. Wink
