I heard about that. He ran into a curb at high speed. Remember the
bike trooper in Hawaii who died escorting Bush a year or two ago?

It's sad when a cop gives the ultimate sacrifice and all the more when
he's on 2 wheels.

I'm a life-long Republican, and he's right: you're a total dipshit.

Anyone low enough to use the accidental death of a police officer to take a
swipe at a political foe could probably walk under a snake wearing a
top-hat.

And not duck.

Condolences to the family.

They seem to have a lot of these crashes, and I'm not sure why. I seem to
remember one fatal, perhaps one non-fatal while escorting the current
president.

And a high percentage seem to be fatal. Not what I'd expect for motorcade
duty.

Loudmouth, I'm retired law enforcemen. If you don't like my comments,
stuff it up your lard ass. What pisses me off is that the officer died
because that dimwitted bitch and her entourage needed to feel
pampered.

Your being a retired LEO doesn't mean you're not a total dipshit. She's
a candidate for the US Presidency and it is in the US interest to
protect her life. You can't just decide to not protect her because you
don't like her politics. That's what they do in Pakistan and Belarus,
countries that we're supposed to be better than, remember?

One article mentioned that the escorts race ahead, block access until
the motorcade passes and then race up to pass the motorcade again. So
there's speed in an uncontrolled environment.

The officer who died last year was doing this in the rain, IIRC.

I bet there are more that are not fatal and you just don't hear about
them.

They need to work on their motorcade protocol.

Several years ago when I worked in downtown San Francisco I saw several
motorcades. I paid attention to how they set them up: The whole route is
cleared ahead of time. Motorcycle cops will set up at each intersection.
They divert traffic off the route and don't allow any more on. There's
no high-speed leapfrogging.

Then with lots of sirens and cop cars, the motorcade passes by. Even for
the smaller motorcades, the center of non-attention seems to be three
identical vans with shaded windows. The cops don't know who the
motorcade is for until after it has passed.

I recall reading that the officer who just died had been on the
motorcycle detachment for a month. I wonder how much riding experience
he had outside that.

That sounds plausible. I've got to believe that a police department isn't
trying to brag or call attention to motorcycle mishaps. Also, I've got to
believe that the individual officer doesn't want to brag about it.

BUt.... but.... but .... she's been telling us how she's 'just
like us', 'one of the common people', and most certainly not a member
of any 'priviledged upper class' and any 'old school power
structure' !!!!

Now, if she would just point me to one of her deals where you
buy $ 1,000 of cattle futures one day, and sell them for $ 100,000 a
week later .....

Or maybe she could send me to some fancy high-$$$ colleges,
here and abroad, and then arrange for me to get a 6 figure 'trainee'
job somewhere.

Hillary is one of the coldest political women ever to hit the
national scene, if not the most. She does NOTHING that is not a piece
of the puzzle in her search for power. There is no dirty trick she
won't pull ( witness her trying to get the Florida and Michigan
delegates seated right now, after she broke her word, after her
opponent took his name off the ballot and she could only beat
'Undecided' by a narrow margin. )

She would be quite happy to win the nomination on 'Super
delegates', and to hell with how the members of her party actually
voted. THink 'Al Gore in 2000'. Think 'Electoral college vs popular
vote'. Of course, BACK THEN, she was opposed to it, she wanted
'whoever won the popular vote, to win the election'. Until it's HER
ass on the short end of that stick.

March 4th will be interesting - if she wins by even a tiny
margin in Texas or Ohio, she'll crow like a rooster about 'being back
in the race'. However - do the delegate math ! In order to even
'break even' with Obama before their convention, even counting her
lead in 'Party Insiders aka Super Delegates', she has to win by 25 -
30 % + IN EVERY REMAINING STATE from this moment forward.

It's really quite amusing watching her go down in flames !
