Well, the first design from the new architect is way cool.
But he forgot my workshop.
I like it so much I wonder about keeping my tools and dirtbike in a modified
Airstream parked out front.
You people know a lot about toyhaulers, etc.
School bus?
Graffiti on a Winnebago?
Anything to tick off the neighbors...
TIA,

Yes. But that's what Seth said.

Old tuna boat, the ultimate lawn ornament.
Get an old fishing boat (better if not sea-worthy, so it'll be free or
close to it), gut the inside, and turn it into a shop. Put in on an
inverted 'V' stand made from recycled timbers in your yard. Viola -
you've got your shop, and your neighbors will never be the same. 2-
birds, and all.

LOL!
I was thinking about a container...
comes in two sizes:
20 ft

Be careful with the floors in those things. We had a few at a previous
job and used them for the same thing. Forklift wheels went through the
floor in one and got stuck. Warehouse guy took another fork truck in
to extract the first. Big shock, it went through the floor too.

Almost forgot - in many (most) townships, there are zoning ordinances
regarding non-registered vehicles and/or auxilary structures. This
complecates using RVs or semi-trailers for storage or auxilary
buildings, as well as mobile storage containers (can be considered a
shed). There are NEVER, however, ordinances against parking boats in
your yard.

The county where I work has such a rule. I don't live there. I live in
a county where a camaro on blocks in the yard is almost a requirement.

hey i shipped a few of those 40'ers to new orleans with drinking water in
them... i wonder where they ended up LOL...
i'm guessing some one made a home out of it...
Dean:
check zoning law
trailers (RV's & the like) are often specifically addressed wher & when they
can be parked...
if not then they can be had relativly cheep, you should keep them plated for
road use to avoid realestate tax or getting towed to an impound lot... i
bought a few more 48' semi trailers last @ 1,500 a piece, granted they are
not real road worthy but they work good enough for the shipping dept to
shuffle stuff around the lot and the local tax man doesn't charge me per
square foot.

Even if the structure is in my property? Here, there are rules
regarding what you can do on the street, there are also rules to avoid
someone open a soap factory beside my house or build something taller
than X stories... I can't turn my property in a salvage yard, but one
container I don't think I'd have problems...

Containers are good. I was going to buy one just for storage durring the
project and sell it afterwards. Word on the street is they hold their (low)
value pretty well. My buddy Chip has a full shop inside one at his log yard.
I like Jay's boat idea though. I like it a lot. And there are plenty of
boats in yards here on the shoreline.
In fact, I had a talk with God last night. Too bad my lot is only 53 cubits
by 66 cubits. >> Stay informed about: Mobile workshops? |

Condos are worse. Turns out I can't put up a 'For Sale' sign because my
mom's condo is at the back of the property rather than the front, where
the "lawn" is. They also don't want people working on their cars in
their carports. They're already pissed at me for various reasons, so I
hope they don't find out that I changed her air cleaner in the carport.

Ah, a kindred soul. My automatic reaction to anything is "What's wrong
with this?" You'd think they'd appreciate somebody who points out the
problems before they invest time and money, right? But NOOOOOOOO!
