Springfield being what it is made it worse because of the groove and while
any fluid is not going to be good it was even more focused on the money lap.

About the only time I ever saw water on a mile was if someone got really
frightened and I never heard of an XR leak coolant, (mostly because they
don't have any) though they damn sure have put down their share of oil..
Whether it really did blow, or just overheated it's something that has got
to be monitored extremely close and I believe it probably was too, the
dealer association that runs those mid-west miles have been doing so for a
long time, though there was really nothing that could have been done with
everyone is going for it on the hammer lap. It's just a little ironic that
after years of struggling to actually make a feature one causes such a
calamity when it finally does and I can't think of a worse time, or place
for it to happen either. From watching many short track races we knew it was
possible, it's just a damn shame that reality was driven home as it was..
