It's somewhat taken me by surprise, but I'm not complaining.

I'm sure you have other things to keep here interested once the wine and
conversation run dry.

I haven't watched him (never seen on DagoTV) but read a couple of books,
interesting they were.

IKWYM. This has worked for me in the past:

Order a table for two, saying you're expecting a friend. After getting
through a bottle of wine, make excuses for them not arriving and go
ahead and order your meal (and another bottle of wine, natch). The
staff then feel sorry for you and look after you.

Ah, it's not really about food, then.

And yes, I think many people in their late 30s and 40s re-assess what
they do for a job, and wonder "is that it?" The trick, I believe, is
to realise that really *is* it, and make the best of it.

<mode=serious>
That's a very sad assessment, you know?

I don't think it has to be, but the big question is if you are willing
to take the risk. If not, then look forward to being Mr Corporate Slave
until you get fired five minutes before it's gold watch time and then
find yourself unemployable because "you're too old", but no-one's
telling you that because it would be illegal...
</mode>

It doesn't have to be 'it', but you won't get out of the 'it' if you're
not willing to risk something/a lot.

Nice bite, but I should really get my arse to the dentist soon.

FWIW I agree with all of this.

The changing bit isn't alweays easy though.

Post corrected.

Personally, I tried to get the mid-life crisis and breakdown out of the
way in my early 20s so I can get on with being a grumpy old cunt for the
rest of my life without worrying about losing it.
