Just in case anyone on here has anything for sale...

Friend of mine is pissed off with only have 350ccs of pre-1970 motorcyle to
ride round on and is also hacked off with having to build the thing from
bits...

...so he's asked me if I can ask around if anyone can sell him a
well-restored, pre-1970
BSA/Norton/Triumph of 500cc+ at a reasonable price.

Now I have to admit that I know bugger all about pre-1980s bikes, but he
asked, so I'm putting this up on his behalf.

So if you've got a bike that may reasonably fit the description above, then
e-mail me at david dot haines at nottscc dot gov dot uk so I can put a sad
beardy bloke in touch with you so he can give you his life's savings and you
can free up that much needed garage space.

Ta

Dave

PS. Just in case the e-mail address doesn't give it away, the buyer in
question is in Nottingham, so East Midlands would be useful, but not
essential for viewing etc...

Oops. At the usual asking prices that'll be around 2 grand...

I don't. Get him to either buy Classic Bike Guide or have a look at
the classifieds on <a rel="nofollow" style='text-decoration: none;' href="http://www.realclassic.co.uk/." target="_blank">http://www.realclassic.co.uk/.</a>

Advise him to buy an old Beemer twin. 'Twill be less heartbreak in the end!
Failing that a UNIT T120 Bonnie engine gave me no real hassle and a
bucketload of fun (Triton). Heh, I even did Despatching on it for a few
weeks around Glasgow.

Something like an old BSA A7 would fit the bill. Or a decent Trumf
500, but I know nothing about ShiteOldBritBikes. Good sorted examples
of the "cooking" twins seem to run for ever, mind - a friend has a
Triumph 5TA he's owned for decades. All original, looks scabby, and
never fails to start or reach its destination.

My thoughts exactly.

There's a fair proportion of wildly optimistic asking prices on there.

On the other hand...... a CB400/4 'cafe racer' for £300 sounds
interesting Wink

The one I sold last year was easily the best you'll find - as new -
and it made a grand.

No, it sounds like it's a total abortion.

I've owned my '63 Tiger90 since 1974 and must have done so for
some reason I suppose - loads of spares available - new, used,
re-manufactured, bodged.
Dead easy to work on and quite quick if one doesn't mind the horribly
rapid wear of valve gear. Terrifying spring-loaded handling if pushed.
The 500s from '67 or so had longer, braced swing arm spindles giving a
little more stiffness at the rear (and revised engine breathing etc
etc), and I would go for one of them if I was looking.

It's not an SOB, it's a classic - Well actually it's a Kwak Z750 twin. It does 110 (with rope to hold you on), 55mpg an it goes round corners. It looks like a bike should, pulls 20 - max in top gear and sets off every car alarm in the street. These things WILL be classics. So there.

not quite a classic but getting there - Hi all looking for a fuel tank for kawasaki zephyr 550 1991 dark blue prefered. Have emailed quite a few places and put an advert on uk.rec.motorcyles still waiting for replys from a lot of the emails But hey someone here may just have one lurking in...

Classic TT sidecar - Anyone familiar with the classic sidecar racer shown at: http://www.homepages.hetnet.nl/~marion1965/steiginga/ Any, any information or web-links very much appreciated. It was build for a westlake, but fits a CB750 OHC engine. Rene van Maanen

dating your classic - if you have to establish the year of manufacture for registration I can help Any age of bike From ajs to zunndape esp jap imports honda yamaha ect

An all time classic.. - I got his KH250...in bits. the last parts are a pair of fork dust shields #44010-035, next bit.....anyone got/now anyone got a sister/brother/aunt.granny? who got either the above part # or something that will finally get the ol' girl back on the road I....
