Lowering kit, BAK question

Post subject: Lowering kit, BAK question

I have a VStar 1100 Classic. I really like the look a lowering kit
gives the bike. I'm thinking about getting one while my bike is in the
shop.

What are the disadvantages? Does the bike really drive that
differently? Are corners harder? A lot less clearance on turns?

I thought I read something other day where someone mentioned having
their lowering kit "set" to a particular height. Do them make some
that are adjustible without much effort?

Also, I'm looking at installing a Barons BAK. Is this a concern when
driving in the rain or leaving the bike in the rain? It looks like it
sticks out far enough where water could be a problem.

Lowering a bike can really screw up the handling. Most folks get by
with changing or reshaping the seat. I don't know what a BAK is. For a lot
of opinions, try posting to rec.motorcycles. this is a low-volume group.

The lowerin gkits have three levels, I would recommend the middle level so
as not to drag the foot rest. As far as the BAK I would go wiht the Maxair
kit (Maxairengineering.com) twice a good as the BAK and will give much
better performance. The Tech help area can't be beat by anyone, also the kit
comes with finger adjustable PMS screws for tuning!
