Is it a simple matter to lower a yr 2000 FXD Dyna Superglide? How
much work is involved? Is it as simple as installing different rear
suspension and shortening the front forks (or raking the steering
head)?

I'm gonna say yes.

To lower my '93 FXR, I simply installed 1.5" shorter shocks in the rear and
dropped the triple clamps down on the fork tubes until I had handling I
liked. The only gotcha doing that, is if the fork tubes hit the handlebars
when they're raised out of the holes in the top triple clamp. That's gonna
be the limit on how far you can lower the front without getting shorter fork
tubes and springs.

Thanks for the info there, Spanky. Have one on me.

Anyone here used a raked triple tree? Are they a satisfactory way to
rake? Do they result in steering and handling characteristics that are
as good as what one gets by raking the frame?

I've ridden raked bikes, which handled nicely, but I've never ridden
one with a raked triple tree.

Raked trees will reduce your trail. This will reduce high speed handling. If
there is enough rake to them, they can put you in a negative rake situation.
You wouldn't like that.
