I've been hanging onto this link since I saw something just like these on StephG's bike. I
have a SuperGlide, which shared the same front end as sporties way back in '00.

I like those. Especially in the 75 w spot. A pair of those on the
country roads would be nice. I think I'll stick with the 50 w tho.
The 50 w are 4.5 amp each for 9 amps. The 75w are 7 amps each for 14
amp. I need to check my manual for alternator output.

Damn, the manual is out in the below zero truck. I'll check it
tomorrow!

Course if I put led's in all 4 turn signals that would drop usage
slightly.

I had read that article a long time ago. That's what started me
thinking about putting more light in front this winter.

Now I have lots to think about. Thanks

Let me buy you a drink.

Appreciate that. I haven't done it but its on the list, along with a new roof and a few
other nits.

For virtually no cost you can put in a hi-po bulb.

Next one's on me.

I couldn't pin your numbers down either. But what I did find was
informative for me, having no prior understanding of the subject.

======================= Snip-a-lot ===========================

http://www.rallylights.com/hella/5.75_lo.asp
Product ID: HL79564
5.75" Round ECE H4 Headlamps w/o bulb, each $41.63

http://www.rallylights.com/hella/7in.asp
Product ID: HL79562
7" Round ECE H4 Headlamps w/o bulb, each $31.97

http://www.rallylights.com/hella/H4.asp
Product ID: HL78158
Description: 78158 H4 100/55W Replacement Bulb, each $7.84

On my Road King I run the 7" and the 100/55 bulb.
I also run two 55 watt H1(one)'s in the passing lamps which can be purchased
at WalMart.

My passing/running lights *stay on* with the headlamp either on High or Low beam.

Note:
A 100 watt high beam may be illegal. <shrug>
Some users of the 100 watt bulb have had problems with heat melting the connector.
A very low resistance connection for the bulb and its plug is imperative.
Some users changed their H4 socket to a ceramic one. I used a product called
PENETROX on the prongs of the H4 bulb and connector and have had NO heat problems.
Penetrox is an antioxidant used by electricians to stop electrolysis from happening
when dissimilar metals are connected... particularly aluminum and copper. When
applying PENETROX to connectors and sockets be careful NOT to allow the material
to cross over to any other connector or ground. PENETROX is a conductor of
electrical current.

Having running lights ON and headlight HI beams ON is illegal. <shrug>

Putting out THAT much light with your headlight/running lights misadjusted...
probably will get you a 'punch in the neck'! <g>
HINT: Adjust your headlight/running lights while the bike is two up and fully loaded.
