I have just bought a KTM 380 Exc & want to put duel tires & basically make
it into a onroader.
Is this insanely stupid to be doing this to a two stroke offroad bike?

My knowledge of bikes is minimal so any input would be appreciated.

Cheers

This ng seems to be deader than a very dead thing, so may be worth posting
instead to uk.rec.motorcycles.

Tips for ukrm: Post at bottom and snip sigs - it's a very robust ng and
you'll be told in no uncertain terms if you get it wrong. However, despite
this, it's a fount of all knowledge so you should get good info there.

Yes, but not because it's a 2 stroke.

> My knowledge of bikes is minimal so any input would be appreciated.

If you wanted a trail bike you'd have been better getting a trail bike. The
Exc is a 'crosser and really needs to be ridden balls out everywhere for it
to make sense.

Point of order - EXCs are enduro bikes not 'crossers[1], & the vast
majority of people use enduro bikes for trail riding.

[1] Apart from the 200 EXC EGS which is classed as a trailbike - but
sadly no longer made.

OK, I thought the exc was the 'crosser.

Looking deeper, [1] you're absolutely right, of course, though, the Exc is
the Enduro. The SX is the 'crosser.

My bad.

[1] Mate has an Exc, which (now he tells me) has all the 'crosser plastics
on it ... or at least has all the lights and rear plate carrier not on it
....

Krusty - why did they name the 4-strokes EXCs as well, it's very
confusing.

I'm sure it doesn't say that on my log book. Maybe on the side - I've not
really taken that much notice.
