The following release is from AMA Pro Racing...
AMA Pro Racing has announced that three riders have been penalized 25
points each for using illegal fuel at round 14 of the THQ AMA Supercross
Series at Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas on April 17.
Riders receiving the penalty include Tyson Hadsell, Chad Reed and David
Vuillemin.
In announcing the penalties, AMA Pro Racing SX/MX Series Manager Steve
Whitelock stated that fuel samples were collected from seven motorcycles
at the Texas round and that the samples from the motorcycles of riders
Hadsell, Reed and Vuillemin were found to be in non-compliance. Fuel
from the motorcycles of Josh Hansen, Mike LaRocco, Ivan Tedesco and
Kevin Windham was found to be in compliance.
The fuel samples were sent to a certified testing lab which confirmed
that the fuel did not meet the requirements specified in the AMA
Supercross/Motocross Rulebook.
AMA Pro Racing implemented new fuel requirements beginning with the 2004
season. >> Stay informed about: Illegal Fuel at Texas SX |

nothing new.
If the AMAs favorite domestic hero (KW) can't outride the competition,
heck just fine the faster riders some points on a technicality
that's the way we do things in these parts, always has been
rest of the world (reed, dv) can just kiss-AMAs-rear if they think they
can come here and take our championships
right on AMA!

A little more info from supercross.cc.com
Cypress, CA (April 24, 2004) - - Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA was notified
on Friday April 23, 2004 at the Salt Lake City Supercross that Factory
racers David Vuillemin, Chad Reed and Yamaha privateer Tyson Hadsell had
been fined 25 points each by AMA Pro Racing for illegal fuel. Team Yama is
baffled by the findings, the timing, and the unprecedented 25 point
deduction and plan to appeal.
AMA Pro Racing implemented new fuel requirements beginning with the 2004
season. The AMA informed teams of available fuel field testing equipment;
Team Yamaha purchased the equipment and subsequent testing at each race
returned levels meeting AMA requirements. Prior to the Dallas Supercross,
Team Yamaha had most recently been tested, and passed, after Chad Reed and
David Vuillemin finished 1st and 2nd at the San Francisco Supercross.
Team Yamaha, Tyson Hadsell, David Vuillemin, and Chad Reed are disappointed
with the AMA decision but remain focused on this evening's race. Chad Reed
is focused on winning his 11th Supercross race of the year and, with a
15-point lead, is optimistic that the title is still within reach tonight or
next week in Las Vegas.

It means Chad will go out and thrash Windham to prove a point!
This will be seen as a piss poor effort to have an American win .
Just remember who is with the US in Iraq , "AUSTRALIA" Please don't rain on

MC has Australian relatives.

What the fuck does running an illegal fuel have to do with a riders
nationality? And why does the rider who *doesn't* run the illegal fuel
get bashed for it?
Personally, I'd like to know the facts before I start bashing anyone
involved.

Adam,
Your so called little ray of sunshine was cheating. That is the black and
white of it. It has nothing to do with where he comes from or whom his
country chooses to fight with. The fact that his country supports actions in
Iraq shows integrity and fortitude for doing what is right. That is more
than I can say for Reed and his team on the fuel rule. Men and women are
giving their lives everyday for a cause they believe right and true while
you discount that cause by using it as a weak example. Don't beg, it's not
becoming.
OP
Rant off

Right sentiment, wrong accused Tuner.
NO rider should be bashed for running an illegal fuel, the f'in
mechanics should have there balls hung out to dry.
Since when is it the riders responsibility to run a chemical analysis on
his fuel before he starts his bike up?

MX Tuner,
You are 100% correct. Lets find out the details before we start to
cry. Also the rules are there for a reason. If you want to try to
break them, you will have to suffer the consequences.. Just my .02

From a previous post it sounds like Yamaha (and probably other teams) have
some equipment to test their fuel for complience. So we can't exclude
the possibility of a lab screwup until they look a bit closer as to
where things went wrong.
Now if the fuel is indeed illegal, I would tend to put the blame on
the mechanics (or whoever is responsible for that part of the bike).
I have a hard time thinking that a company like Yamaha would knowingly
run the risk of getting caught cheating.

Team Yamaha will appeal and the AMA will look foolish again as they did with
