Anyone got one? I need to press the old bushings out of my Econovan's
control arms, then press the new ones in. While I'd quite like to buy
another new tool to get this job done[1], I can't see a press getting
a lot of use in my workshop once this job is done.
I've also surprised myself a bit with how little swearing has been
involved with the job so far. (I admit I was a little peeved to
discover that I needed to remove the radiator before I could unbolt
the upper control arm fuclrum pin and remove the control arm. And
that I then had to unbolt one of the gear shift linkages to have room
to lift it out.)
Anyone?

[1] I've already bought a scissor-style ball joint separator, a 25mm
and a 26mm combination spanner. >> Stay informed about: Hydraulic press needed (Canberra) |

Local repco will do it for a slab or $5.00 a bush normally >> Stay informed about: Hydraulic press needed (Canberra) |

I think it comes from too many years of running an illicit booth
operation. He's just too used to full service to expect anything less. >> Stay informed about: Hydraulic press needed (Canberra) |

An hydraulic press is but a jack mounted in a frame....thought out all the
options yet??? when you have gone through all that come to mind, go and have
a coffee in the quiet, there will be something else that you haven't thought
of.

Oddly enough, when I went to visit my over-the-back-fence neighbour
yesterday afternoon to deliver some tomatoes[1] he asked how the truck
job was progressing then said "Do you want a hydraulic press? I've
got 8 of them."
Apparently somebody he knew was winding up a business, and gave them
to him to dispose of. His father-in-law a few suburbs away has them,
and has set one up, and has been itching to try it out on a real job.
He'll be popping by this evening.
Just another of those interesting coincidences that punctuate my
life.

Unfortunately the neighbour's press turned out to be a lightweight
little mechanical-screw job, maybe a tonne of pressure at best.
Needless to say, it didn't work.
I dropped the suspension arms off at Pedders' in Belconnen yesterday.
Hopefully they'll be done by Friday...

I have no fear of excess tomatoes - I make them into jam.
