Honda coolant pump

What's involved in replacing a coolant pump on an ACE VT1100. It appears
that at least one of the bolts holding the cover is directly behind the
frame. Does the engine need to be removed or can the frame be separated at
the front of the bike. It seems that there is a removable frame section
there. I have noticed a leak coming from the weep hole in the housing and
from what I've been told that's an indication of the pump gone bad and not
the cover gasket.
