Here are a few pics from my trip from the Dallas area to the Honda Hoot last
week. There were four bikes in our group including my Busa, my buddy Mike's
Blackbird, a my neighbor's VTX and my other friends Harley....

This was probably some of the most scenic riding I have done since moving to
Texas about ten years ago. Other than getting wet quite often it was a great
trip.

Nice photos. Did you meander about the Smokies or do the Gap and the rally?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Thanks
We did the gap and then turned left and took highway 19 up to Bryson City
and Cherokee. Then we took 441 up to Gatlinburg through Newfound Gap and
back into Knoxville. I believe we rode about 250 miles that day. We were
going to do it again on Friday but it poured all day so we just went to the
Honda Hoot location just off of interstate 40 near the zoo and bought one
day passes and checked out all the vendor's booths. We rode from Knoxville
to Texarkana the next day in relatively nice weather but got poured on again
for the last three hours back to Dallas the next morning. All in all, it
was a great trip even though we only had the one really scenic ride.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Some gorgeous scenic overlooks there, but very crowded, no?

I went down earlier this year with a few guys and the intention of riding into
North Georgia as I haven't yet done that. One of our guys wrecked and it put
the south half of the journey on hold until maybe next year.

No test rides? That's the only reason I go, but the event has become so popular
it's almost a lost cause anymore. The people to demo bike ratio is way too
high.

Yes It was very crowded at the gap that day. I would love to try it
sometime when it wasn't quite that way. Mike and I went ahead of the VTX
and Harley and would pull over and wait for the other two bikes. I would
rather of had my SV1000S for the Gap but the rest of the trip was much
better on the Busa.

There were two accidents at the Gap that afternoon but neither one of the
riders appeared to be hurt too bad which I don't think can be said for their
rides...

Well, it was pouring raining the day we actually went to the Hoot and the
exhibits and I don't think they were doing the demo rides. We definitely
wanted too but like you said there were plenty of people in line for them if
they had been and we may not have gotten one anyway. Maybe next year...

Cruisers? In my experience those are the one's that wreck most frequently down
there. They don't go very fast so they usually aren't banged up too bad.
The locals there tell me that the sherriffs usually begin their patrolling of
the road in the morning after they pluck their second bike from the bushes.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I don't think so in this case. One of the guys was laying there with
leathers on and was talking to the ambulance driver and didn't look too bad.
I didn't see the other guy but I thought both bikes were sport bikes. The
two guys with cruisers in my group said they were exhausted after the run
and were sweating. Mike and I wanted to go make the run a couple of more
times!<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
