Just used a Honda 350 engine as a teaching tool at TAFE for some school
based automotive trainees. The idea was to strip it down and put it back
together and hopefully no left over parts. When we stripped it down both
pistons were conspicuous by their absence, thinking that maybe the engine
had been used previously for the same purpose we carried on stripping the
engine down. Splitting the cases we found approximately 300 pieces of
shrapnel that used to be pistons and looking at the head one of the
combustion chambers had been peined by one of the pistons before total
disintergration.

Nothing a bit of aluminium-putty can't fix!

Yes Clem I have already seen the picture. Part of the problem also is part
of the piston went between the cogs in the gearbox and bent the shaft. What
we thought was good compression was resistance from the bent shaft, oh and
part of the cylinder sleeve was broken away.

So you've split the cases then?

I believe the use of Optimax can fix that...
