A thread diversion, but I'll be in Armididdle at Xmas as well, should
we have an ausmoto catchup ?

(might make one day of being in the sticks interesting)

Closer examination reveals that the thread's buggered on the frame side
of things, so it's pretty much the end of the road until I can find
myself another suitable frame, I'll keep my eyes open, I'm sure
something will turn up.

What I really want is something like the mountain bike I had when I was
14, no suspension, nice solid steel frame, and wheels that you could
pound with a hammer without denting them. I might just go the same route
as you and buy a bigw special.

Though if someone wanted to get me one of these I wouldn't say no

Don't worry about it, not much point until I can find a replacement
frame for it.

Hmm, actualy yeah, the 18 speed MTB in the bottom row would be perfect,
just have to figure out how to get it up here. The 12 speed Pug road
bike would also be nice, but without a stock of spare parts I don't
think I'd be able to get it on the road for bugger all, which defeats
the aim of the exercise

I had a chat with a friend of mine tonight who told me that the Salvo's
main depot for Sydney isn't that far away from me and normally has a
fair selection of cheap bikes, I might wander over there at some point
soon and have a look.

We'll be heading up over 2 days on Dec 26-27th, staying in Armidale on
the 28th, back home again 29-30th, and back at work on Jan 2.
(Apparently there are a few wineries along the way). Wink

If that coincides with your visit, give us a tinkle on 0429 907 329
and we'll find ourselves a pub or chip shop or something... (not sure
about restaurant availability in Armidale).

Worst case scenario, I'll put that bike aside for you and you can pick
it up at the Unaugural (I'm just guessing that you'll be turning up as
one of a carload of lads again). Wink

Thinking about it, between the Pug and the one I've got now I could
put together a half decent bike, about the only thing I'd need to pick
up would be a spoke and a QR skewer, I'll have a think about it.

I'm planning on being at the unaugural, but I doubt I'll be in a car,
I'm not going to own one after january, and there's something just
wrong about turning up at a bike rally in a cage, even one you're
putting on

OK, I'll hang onto the Pug for you then. There's bound to be somebody
doing a Canberra-Sydney run sometime soon.

You didn't feel the least bit guilty about sinking the boot into me
just then, did you? Wink
