Hi
After not doing much mileage over the last couple of years I have decided to
change my bike. I have found a nice triumph sprint ST. The issue is
selling my bike (suzuki gsx750F). I have been offered next to nothing for a
trade in. I have serviced it atleast once a year since I got it in 1995
(its a 91 model). It has Krauser K2 panniers. Over the years I have done
lots to it, replacing exaust for stainless, EBC Prolite disks, dyna coils,
various bearings, seals etc and the front oil pipes to the head which
corroded through last year, I have changed the battery and stripped the
brakes this year for the MOT. It is in good running order (ok the front
tire only has 1000 miles left in it and there are a few scratches) but it
has 11 months tax and MOT.
I thought it would be worth about a grand and would make someone a nice bike
if they are on a tight budget (cheep to insure as it over 10 years old), or
as a winter bike. I have only been offered £400 Px What should I do?
Trade it in? Ebay? Local rag?
Based near Derby. The issue seams to be the mileage at 58000. but then the
engine was good internally.
Thanks in advance.

A GSX750F is worth bugger-all, especially the older style ones.
It all comes down to cost to change, and hassle factor. Is it really
worth trying to flog it to a sucession of dreamers / tyre kickers for an
extra couple of hundred quid?

There is a shop [1] near me trying to sell a blue one of similar vintage
for £2500.

Yep, if it runs and you don't really want rid of it then keep it as a
second bike/winter hack.

Jesus - you can get a brand-spanking new one for £5k. Seen 3 year old
examples for not much more than £2.5k.

Its really weird y'know, but its been in his shop for about three years
now. Can't think why.
The phrase "Alistair wouldn't give you light in a dark corner" has been
used to describe the owner.
The shop is bursting with similarly over-priced examples of ancient tat.

Suppose if he holds out for long enough, it'll start to appreciate and gain
Klazzik status!
