The left hardbag on the cop bike is deformed some, making latching the
thing purt near impossible. It seems like the inside edge is bowed
some and doesn't allow the lid to fit on properly. I can shove the
lid down and make it fit, and turn the latch to catch, but as soon as
I do, it pops back out. It's not the end of the world, as the bag
locks OK and it seems to be water tight, but I'd really like it to
latch as well as the right side bag does. Anyone have any experience
with shaping the hard bags on a late model (2004) HD bagger? Can it
be done?

Is it possible to put a length of 3/8 " L shaped aluminum on the inside to
reinforce it from bowing? I think it could be bonded with something
like Uralane 5774 so you wouldn't have screws showing.

Slightly off the subject but have you checked out http://www.flhp.com?
It's a site dedicated to ex cop bikes. You post the question there you
could get some good answers. And not all of them would be smart-
assed...
I've got some pics of my '06 up there with the air-ride seat I put on.
What I've "heard" but have not found it in print anywhere is heating it
up and pushing it back into normal position. I think that would take a
lot of heat to do that though so I just kind of cataloged it in FWIW
category. >> Stay informed about: Hardbag Question |

That'd be cool, but like I say, nothing comes up (under net or org
either).

Sort of what I was thinking of, but don't wanna screw the paint in the
process.

That would be my concern. I've "reformed" boat parts using a big heat gun
but it was all stuff that just had a gel coat and no paint. Maybe it would
be worth visiting a dealership and see if they have some pieces of crashed
bags and give that a shot.
