<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.cycoactive.com/gps/gps_batteries.html" target="_blank">http://www.cycoactive.com/gps/gps_batteries.html</a> has information on how to
harden up the batteries for bike use. I've been using a ETrex Venture with
the RAM mount and find it dependable. A friend just got the 60C and likes
it. Much faster startup and the external antenna picks up sats better than
the patch in th ETrex series. Color, lot more memory, and also costs twice
as much as the Venture. He hasn't had it long enough to have discovered any
problems, but said he liked the ETrex' shape better.

I don't know if RAM or Touratech have a mount for the 60C yet, and don't
know if RAM is available in Europe.

I use a Garmin GPSMap60C on my KTM 520 exc. Like it very much. I use a
RAM mount to hold the unit. Had been using an eTrex Vista with RAM
mount on the bike (and a couple other bikes) prior.

Only real issue I've had is the batteries will vibrate and lose contact
at certain revs. The 60c on the 520 would shut down at 3/4 and up
throttle; the Vista would only do this on a rare hit. Both were fixed
by putting a little weatherstripping (adhesive backed foam) on the
battery door to hold the batteries more solidly.

I have had excellent results using the Garmin eTrex, Duracell
batteries, and the bicycle handlebar mount. There are people who will
try to argue for more expensive systems. Don't waste your time! The
whole system costs about $150 US and works great. You can even record
your rides and download them for analysis if you get the cable and
download a copy of Oziexplorer.

I put over 5,000 off-road miles on my KTM 250 EXC and only had to
replace the mount once. I had to replace the Garmin because I dropped
it on the pavement when I was jogging. Who would have thought jogging
is more abusive than motorcycling! Smile

Ride safe!

I use the Garmin Etrex with handlebar mount. Works good. You need to put
some drops of silicone on the battery compartment lid to hold the batterys
firmly in place. The screen is rather small and hard to read unless your
eyes are in good shape. Otherwise it's a great GPS, especially with the
appropriate topo or street maps loaded into it. I use NiMH batterys and
they work great.
