It's been 24 hours and my first post hasn't shown up yet, so time to tell
the story over again ...
I own a 99 Monster 750. Over the last 3 months, the front brake has
started "buzzing" when not engaged, the same sound it correctly makes when
it's activated. The bike still rolls smooth in neutral so I don't think
there's contact being made. There's very little play in the brake lever.
Basically, I think it's set too tight.
I've never done much bike/car work myself (so why the heck did I buy a
duc?) but I really intend to from here on out, despite my lack of a
garage. Therefore, I hope you'll excuse the basic lack of knowlege on my
part. I have 2 questions, what is causing this and how do I fix it?
I figure the problem could be a need for bleeding the brake line. Or
Maybe somehow it got over tightened, Or, it could be buildup on the brake
pads (but even I can't see how that would make the brake system active).
The owner's manual is hopelessly non-technical, and I've scoured the net
in search of a simple brake maintenance howto but to no avail. Could
someone refer me to a webpage, or even a good book - shop manual?
Also, I ordered a center stand (took 18 months to make the boat ride), but
it seems like A] I need a bike stand in order to install the center stand,
and B] One of the existing sidestand bolts needs to be removed first. I
don't feel comfortable with the trial-and-error method of installation so
if anyone could lend a few pointers on that one too, it's appreciated.
thanks for not scoffing at the newbie

Herman - don't know the answer myself, but try <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.ducati.net/" target="_blank">http://www.ducati.net/</a> sign
up for the E-mail mailing list...no spam but you will get a LOT of messages
so I'd recommend getting an additional E-mail name set-up just for this
group. Best bunch of people I've met and quick with advice, esp. to
"newbies".
