Turns out there was just a little more damage than I noticed.
Scratching and surface cracks in the fairing where it hit the gutter.

Can anyone recommend a repairer I can go to to get a quote?
Melb, inner north preferred.

I;m assuming the insurance co will not object to me doing some of the
work (replace rocker cover) because it is easier and cheaper than taking
(trucking) it to a mechanic.

WHOA BOY!!!

Never assume anything with an insurance company.

If you don't do EVERYTHING to the letter, they can refuse to pay.

(For example, if you replace the rocker cover, they may decide not to pay
for said rocker cover, hence you are out of pocket.)

Don't know anyone in inner Melbourne, but I know a bloke in
Glengarry (near Traralgon!)

It is a great mystery what they will or will not accept.

Usually yes, but they do specifically say to check everything with them
first. For the sake of one phone call, it's always better to check.

If you don't take it to one of their recommended repairers they don't
guarantee the job.

I think the reason they specify in the policy a certain amount of money can be
spent in "emergency repairs" to get you moving again to save you the hassle of
ringing them up before you authorize the work to be done... however my Swann
policy states that the emergency repairs are only applicable if the damage
occurs more than 100km from home and are necessary in order to get your bike
home or to a repairer.

Of course the obvious thing to do in Moike's case is, if the bike needs a new
rocker cover to keep it mobile, to replace that, keep the old one, and the
receipt for the new one, and when the insurance assessor looks at the bike,
replace the new cover with the damaged cover, then swap them back again
afterwards and get the repairer who quotes for the repairs to quote for the
replacement and reimburse you in cash when he does the rest of the work.

Hot day, bitumen footpath softened, bike toppled.

Landed on a nice soft Saab.

Winsdcreen, a little fairing damage, cracked rocker cover. Not too bad.
