I want to stuff some more ram in the pc. However, I'm confused [1].
I've got (according to CPU-Z utility) PC800 (400mhz) RDRam - I've had a look
round and can't seem to match this up with any of the techno babble on
offer - what should I be looking for?

RAMBUS/RIMM memory. Not the cheapest stuff around either. This place is
probably cheaper than most however..

It's a PC, it's old etc etc.
Mind yew, I might just look at replacing M/B, chip etc etc to bring it up to
a decent spec.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: FOAK: Ram |

Not only that, but there were so many issues with RIMM when it launched, and
it was so much more expensive than the competition that it had a short
life, even for an IT porduct. (If memory serves)

Given that 512M from ebuyer is gonna set you back nigh on £200 plus VAT and
p+p it would be both cheaper, and give a much greater improvement in
performance to buy a new CPU, Mobo and RAM. you could probably stretch to
a nice new hard disc as well.

Any recommendations as to chip - mobo- ram combinations? Don't want to spend
a fortune - but summat I could edit videos on would be good , although not
essential, as mine usually conks out somewhere along the line<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: FOAK: Ram |

<can of worms mode = open>
Athlon XP 2500 £52
Abit NF7 £35
Viking 512M DDR400 £41
Add VAT and a disk / graphics card should you desire. There are many other
options, but that should work AOK
