In California, we have FasTrak, which I am sure is the same thing with a
different name. My FasTrak transponder worked once while on the floor under
the seat, so your ought to work fine in your jacket pocket.
We have two service providers in my region, and the one I was using turned
into a scam artist so I switched to the other one. I had two transponders in
my car during a trip or two on the toll road, and the scam-artist
transponder was hiding under the seat, but still triggered on the pass by
the signal machine.
