Ok just checking how far away people were hearing/feeling the
explosion in southwest Houston that happenned about 6 PM CDT today. I
live about 3 miles from it and it was quite loud here. Have heard
reports it was heard as far away as Crosby and League City. How about
it Key? Did it reach to Louisiana?

Turns out it's 10 million pounds of wax in a warehouse burning. The
cause of the initial explosion has not been determined.

Seems like construction is the cause of more than half of these types
of incidents. Though early pictures of this explosion and fire showed
a crane near a tank, I don't think there was anyone but security there
at the time of the accident. All 3 security personnel who were on site
are accounted for and uninjured.

That pic was actually taken from a helicopter probably 1/2 a mile away
from the scene. The cylinder lying on the ground may have been a very
large cracking vessel. Anyway it was expected to burn for several
hours.

I like this part of the article:

"Danny Perez, who works for the Precinct 6 constable's office, was
playing a video game at his home in Pearland when the explosion
occurred.

"I was playing Grand Theft Auto, blowing up people, and all of a
sudden, boom," he said. "It shook my house. "

too funny...
