A bit of a surprise, right? At least from a tire perspective?
Hayden (M), Stoner (B), Rossi (M), Pedrosa(M)...what does Michelin have for
race day?
This season may have been a bit predictable so far, but I still think the
riders are fantastic to watch. Stoner "may" have one of the best packages,
but he pushes as hard as anyone else out there. Witness... his sliding both
ends during QP.
I hope the race is close, and if Hayden gets a good start, it just might be.
My thinking is that if Stoner gets off quickly and leads, it may be well
over. If Hayden can get a battle going, we may at least have some
excitement. My longshot prediction is that Rossi is fortunate to get a
podium. Hey.....I said it was a longshot!
Weather looks to be nice, so lets hope for a battle! >> Stay informed about: Estoril Qualifying (SPOILER) |

I'm still impressed by Stoner, he really is showing incredible
consistancy track after track, again the fastest Stones rider and the
only Duc doing anything.
I'm hoping tomorrow will be a classic AND the Yamahahaha and Honda's
don't lose out on the straight or have any tyre issues, that way when
Stoner wins yet again there will be no excuses.
Tomorrows race predictions
Stoner
Rossi
Pedrosa
Stoner will get the crown at PI is my guess.

Pedrosa did a run of properly fast times. Just one problem for him
though, he's on the second row which means he'll have to pass people and
we all know what that means at Estoril.
Everyone was losing time in the 4th sector. On their fast laps, Stoner
looked out of control, Rossi was spinning up and smoking the tyre, but
Hayden just went round without even using all the road. He found more
grip in that last corner than anyone. Either lucky with the tyre or
they've found a setup that works better than anyone.
Lots of complaints of chatter especially from the Suzukis.
Given how close everyone is in sectors 1,2,3 looks like it might be
quite a race.

<in the absence of MarkN, who I presume is at Laguna>
I'm not at all sure that Stoner can run away with this one. He
managed one 37 before he put a Q tyre on, the rest were 38s. Hayden
had a load of 38s too, and Rossi a whole string of them, mostly low,
and three 37s, two back to back which suggests it wasn't a Q tyre.
As Julian has pointed out, the guy with the pace on a race tyre is
Pedrosa, with a whole string of 37s, so my money (if I were a gambling
man) would be on him.
The other dark horses are Edwards, who did two runs of five 38s, and
Melandri who did three 37s before going to a Q.
Prediction: Pedrosa, Melandri, Rossi.

Great stuff. Hopefully, a sign of what we'll see the last few races.
With the championship all but decided, it's nice to see a good battle
near the front for a change, and it'll keep me tuned in for the last
few races. >> Stay informed about: Estoril Qualifying (SPOILER) |

Indeed. All three races were great.
Note.
- Dani P still hasn't beaten Rossi in a straight fight.
- Rossi, Dani and Stoner were on lap record pace almost the whole race.
It was the final sector that made the differences.
- The guys at the front of all three races were racing *so* hard with
the bikes kicking around so much you could see it.

Was this another race confused by the tyre rule? All the Bridgestone
runners (except Stoner) had a qualifying tyre that wouldn't last a whole
lap. And Stoner looked like he was just hanging on at the end of his
qualifier.
*Perhaps* because the qualifiers they put in the shed on Thursday night
were too soft because they didn't think it would be as hot as that on
Saturday afternoon?
Strange when the previous race the Bridgestone qualifiers would almost
do two laps.

Oh, God, not the "hasn't beaten Rossi in a straight fight" thing again...

Huh? Okay, this year's pace was faster than previous years, so record
pace. But these three all set their fastest lap time by lap nine of this
28-lap race. It was Hayden who set fastest lap overall, a 1:37.493 on
lap 13; the best from the others was Stoner's 37.600, on the 3rd lap.
From that point on the fastest lap managed by any of the lead group
were the 37.0s by Rossi and Pedrosa on the last lap; otherwise they were
in the 38s on 31 of 42 laps in the race's second half, and almost all of
the 37s were 37.9s. As for the last sector, Pedrosa did set his fastest
time in that on the last lap, but Rossi's last two fast laps were mostly
because he set his fastest sector times in sections one and two; his
best sector four time was set on the 2nd lap. Of the three, only Rossi
beat Roberts' 4th sector time of last year, and that by only .015
second. Again it was Hayden who had the best last sector time, .129
faster than Roberts' 2006 best time, and on lap 18.
In any case, I don't see guys running a half-second or more off the lap
record over the second half of the race as part of "on lap record pace
almost the whole race". Sounds more like inaccurate, pointless
glorification of a rare close race in this Super250 class, one between
two Euros and a "good colonial" with UK history on a Euro bike, and won
by EuroGod, of course...

Either you've mixed up your 7 and 8 keys a lot in this paragraph, or
I've no idea what you're trying to say.
