I have recently been doing some off-road riding in Johnson Valley, CA. I
need to make my bike capable of higher speeds without sacrificing too much
low end. What gearing and pipe would be the trick setup? What top speed
should I hope to achieve? Should the suspension be stiffer than stock
settings since whoops are approached at higher speeds? Any help Greatly
Appreciated. Can you direct me to any sights that cover some of these
issues?

Mark I was in Johnson Valley 2 months ago. Some of the fun stuff to me
was playing in the rocky hills. If you change your gearing much higher your
going to give up some of that. Is that a concern?? If you want to play
with gearing I would go 2 teeth smaller on your rear sprocket. I think the
best speed with that will be in the area of 70 MPH. If thats gonna be the
are you like to ride you may consider a new bike like a Yamaha WR450 or one
of several KTM's.

Its not the hills but rather the long straights where I have the bike reving
high at approx. 70 mph. Question is: is it better to find a strong mid-range
pipe and gear taller for the straights or gear a little higher and get a
high rev pipe?
