5/4/70

Kent State University was placed in an international spotlight after a
tragic end to a student demonstration against the Vietnam War and the
National Guard on May 4, 1970. Shortly after noon on that Monday, 13
seconds of rifle fire by a contingent of 28 Ohio National Guardsmen
left four students dead, one permanently paralyzed, and eight others
wounded. Not every student was a demonstration participant or an
observer. Some students were walking to and from class. The closest
student wounded was 30 yards away from the Guard, while the farthest
was nearly 250 yards

Here are the names of those who died at Kent State, so that they may
not be forgotten:

ALISON KRAUSE

JEFFREY MILLER

SANDRA SCHEUER

WILLIAM SCHROEDER

Thanks to "Hoppy" at RMH.

Its also the anniversary of the Battle of Coral Sea where many other
Americans died fighting a dual Japanese invasion fleet (Port Moresby and
Tulagi). It was the first time the Japanese fleet was thwarted from its
objectives since bombing Pearl Harbor.

Yes, and let's not forget that May 16 is the feast of St. Brendan!

Very good. This was the beginning of the end for Japan. Many people think
the battle of Midway was the turning point but I think this was. The
Japanese failed to secure the first leg of their Pacific objectives but went
boldly ahead with the plan as if it were working. Much like King George and
his war. Smile

Imagine if the Japanese stormed ashore Washington... pulled the head off
Lincoln's statue... and captured president Roosevelt...

Looks like a dry well on this one, Thumper;)

Do us a favor and stick to MC's. Hell, you were likely hiding from the
draft with a 4F or college deferment anyway. You soil the memories of
REAL folks by drudging up your guilt for lacking the balls to do
something worthwhile with your life back then.

Instead of whining all the time, find a soup kitchen to spend the
wasted hours you while away posting hypocritical drivel in a group.

In short, stop with the chicken little act. That goes double for Hank
& Phyloe.

Who knows what??? but Japans real plan was to hit the US hard enough
that we would sue for peace removing our Naval presence from the
Orient... but Midway forced Yamamoto to change the offensive plans to
defensive ones... they didn't go boldly for forward as if the original
plan was working... no sir... the defense of the Emperor and the home
land was more important...

The President's plan is to keep the bad guys on the defensive in their
lands and away form our shores... the defense of Americans and our home
land is more important... it's working... Al Queda are too busy with our
troops over there... you're safe Phyloe...

We did a great job in Vietnam, didn't we? Saved that country for democracy.

50,000 American kids dead, for what?

Fuck off, Bob. Vietnam was wrong, wrong, wrong.

Actvally that's pretty close to being correct. Money talks, yov
jackass. Saigon now has western style sky scrapers. Get a clve
somewhere yov phony.

 >50,000 American kids dead, for what?

Read below. (Milk money)

 >Fvck off, Bob. Vietnam was wrong, wrong, wrong.

Bite me, yov profane drvg store liberal. How covld yov know how things
might have transpired had Jack Kennedy said, no Americans in VN? It
was a proxy war with the Rvssians and Chinese playing for commvnist
rvle in SE Asia; svpplying weapon to the Viet Namese. Now we have no
more cold war and commvnism is history. The Soviet Union has collapsed
and the Chinese are too bvsy bvilding stvff for the rest of the
capitalist covnties to think abovt Carl Marx. And these covntries are
more apt to become prodvctive members of the world commvnity today.

Instead of accepting it's still a nasty world ovt there, yov liberals
will always opt for the short, easy answers. Let the bvlly take yovr

cowardly naves yov are.

Thvmper yov may have been only 17 when dvring the Viet Nam war bvt I'm
