Hi Everyone,
I am a long time lurker and first time poster, so a round of drinks for everyone.

And now to the purpose of this post.

If you are located in the DFW area or do not mind the drive, and are
interested in machinist classes, the Fort Worth Independent School
District's Adult Education program has a machinist class. The class
starts Jan. 6th and will be Tuesdays and Thursday 6 to 10 pm. for 18
weeks. This class will focus on milling. The next class which starts
in the summer will focus on lathework. Registration is going on now
until the 18th. The cost is $360, but this may be paid out if needed.
If you are interested you can contact Abby at 817-531-4300 or you
can email me as I have registered, and have ask Abby many question
myself. The class needs to have 12 people sign up before they will
have it.

Thanks,
Vernon Phillips

This smells a lot like spam, but to be honest, if there was a class like
that around here... I'd be in.

Well, I'm moving west as fast as I can - still working in
Fort Worth though.

Have fun at it Vernon - I learned to use machine tools in
high school; would love to buy a used mill and lathe now.
Could probably use a refresher course, but it will have to
wait 'til later. If you're looking for a project for the class,
you could make me a gear or gerotor-type oil pump for
my Chief. <sfsf>

So close, yet so far. Would be very tempting if it were on the
Dallas side of the metroplex. Can't do Ft Worth. You wouldn't
happen to know if something similar might happen out this way?

Why not adapt a Sportster pump to your application?

If you keep your eye peeled for post '76 bikes,
you can have a pump in your hands before anyone notices.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I've thought about it, but I'm afraid it would take more
work to adapt the sporty pump than to make a whole
new one. The Chief pump is driven directly off the end
of the rear cylinder cam, and the cams I have are in
good enough shape that I hate to think of welding or
grinding on the ends of them.
