I finally saw the photos on abpm. Any resolution to your re-plated
head?

I used the same company when I rebuilt the 125, and it's worked just
fine, strong as ever. The gasket surfaces look like they've been
painted with the same coating that's on the rest of the exterior of
the cylinder. I'll have to say that I wasn't really happy that they
routinely paint them, although it seems to have held up OK. I can't
remember for sure whether the YZ's cylinder had been painted on the
sealing surfaces like yours.

I think if I had to do it all over again, I'd just buy a new cylinder,
although that's probably not as easy a choice with a GG.

Not yet, I haven't really had a chance to call and hash things out.

If only it were just paint.
Those surfaces are etched and pitted from the stripping process. Paint
I could deal with.
I don' think they put any paint on my cylinder at all, just very clean
bare aluminum.

At about $850, I wasn't really inclined to buy a new one...

Ironically, with the GasGas secondary market being what it is, you
could just about get another whole bike for not much more than that.
