Do you know if this bike was running when you took it apart?

No it wasnt. it has a bent rod and the piston was removed. The guy I
had bought it from had bought a cylinder and pipe off an 87 to get it
going, but lost interest, so I got it to build myself as a cheap first
bike, but after thinking about it and the money it would take to get
it going it became a parts bike, and I happened across a 87 CR125 that
I now have going good and am learning to ride on 2 wheels with vs the
4wheels I am used to.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Smart move, Ben. I, too, had an `87 CR125. It was a great bike with a
great motor. Damn near cried when I sold it years later when I got a
brand new `97.

BTW, when you are floundering on uphills (assuming you'll be riding it
off-road as opposed to MX, of course) and having a tough go of the
more technical trails, remember this: you're riding a 125 MX'r and
after mastering it, every other bike you ever ride will make you feel
like a superhero.
