I had a close encounter with a courier van on Turbot street, Brisbane
this morning. End result, alot of bruising along my left side, but nothing
broken. Helmet, Jacket, Gloves very much the worse for wear but boots look
fine, but I very happy I was wearing them.
From all accounts I was very, very lucky, missed a power pole by
centremeters as I tried me hand at flying for about eight metres. So
lottery ticket is being purchased. Unfortunately it looks like my bike 02'
VFR800 is a write off (Yes I did shed a tear over that), but that's what
insurance is for.
No it wasn't my fault, even the Police are saying so. Guy in the
Courier Van decided (late) to turn into a driveway from second lane out,
unfortunately I was in the inside lane when he decided to do it.
As Monty Python would say, I'm a lucky, lucky bastard.
Cheers,

Good idea about the lottery ticket. Bought one when I lost the Fizzer. If
I'd won an 02 VFR800 would probably have been on the shortlist, but the
bastard lost, so I'm still bikeless for now.
Glad to hear you're ok (relatively).

Good to hear you are ok
hope the courier van was suitably damaged as well and he is off the road
for a while.

Erk! Sorry to hear that.
If I'd looked out my window I could've watched you. Be a bit considerate
and give us some warning next time eh?

Hi all , here's a bit of an update.
Suncorp phoned Monday to say the bike is a write off and cheque for $12,500
(sh*t I said) will be forwarded to me. Also after a bit of a fight ,Suncorp
(who also insure the guy who hit me) agree to replace Helmet, Gloves and
give me $500 towards other items. OK I think, this isn't as bad as I first
thought.
I ask Suncorp if I can swap the Microns back to the factory pipes (Not a
problem they say). So this afternoon I rock up to the Suncorp Moorooka
Assessment centre and swap the pipes over, take the PCIII and O2 eliminators
out. Job done.
After getting the pipes, I'm pretty close to Pro Honda, so I think let's
drop by to see what they've got on the floor. Low and behold an 03 VTEC has
come that morning with less that 6,000 on the clock. I look it over, very
nice I think and still over a years warranty left. The asking price is
$13,990 but the Rego is nearly out.
Take it for a test ride (happened to have some riding gear in the car) and
she rode great, but shit my knee was bloody sore. Anyway after some fun and
games I got it for $13,300 drive away with another 6 months rego thrown in.
So deposit is down and just waiting for the cheque from Sunnycorp now.
Friday Prang -> Monday Bike Written Of -> Tuesday found replacement bike
Cheers

Hi Clem,
Looking at Josh's latest post "Update on my insurance and accident woes.",
it looks like Suncorp have come to the party for him as well. Suncorp may
win themselves a bit more business if they keep this kind of service up.
Cheers,
Paul

Yep, they already have my business, haven't had to use them yet but they
are good to talk to if you need to ask questions etc.
