The cold weather has started. Yesterday morning on my ride to the gym, 5:45
am, it was in the 30s..Don long johns, ski mask, neck wrap, and watched all
my turns. Tires don't get warm at this temp.. Good ride. It warmed up doing
the day..
Got another one going in a few minutes. Temps in the 30s again. It is 4:45,
will be moving out at 5:30 am for my gym run on the RC.
So, all you fair weather riders, you all don't know what you are missing..

Heated cold weather gear is awesome. A friend has just the jacket, he was
riding in January and had to turn it down he was hot!
A thermostat control (lets you adjust the temp) hook up from your battery
and from the thermostat a quick disconnect wire set going into the jacket.
It's really like a liner ment to be used with your existing riding jacket. I
can't remember the place he bought it from.
I enjoy cold weather riding too heated gear would just make it that much
better due to it's expense i have other things at the top of my must have
list.

Did you ever consider or try any of the heated clothing because I'm
considering some this winter down here in Texas and was wondering what you
thought of them if you have? Thanks

I remember when I was growing up as a kid during the 60's in Minneapolis, I
use to think that people in Texas used their swimming pools all winter long
and never saw any snow or cold. Around 1988 or 1989 I was flying a 727
into Lubbock, TX on Christmas day and they were having a downright blizzard.
I've also seen snow very hard in Amarillo. I'm guessing I was wrong about "
the swimming all winter long in their outdoor pools" or " riding their
motorcycles all winter long in T-shirts and flip flops....." <S>

I am going to try some of those heated gloves. I can keep my body warm with
layers, my hands are the ones that catches it. The ride today was nice.Just
cold in the morning.

30F here Coleman and I ride to work in a light jacket.
Natural insulation works fine for short period of time. It
was 45F here at lunchtime and I was riding in a polo shirt.

Actually I like the cold weather better than the summer hot weather, a lot
better.
Not only is it less crowded on my favorite roads, but there are advantages
for those of us with neurological issues that are affected by heat. Summer
is good for the daylight hours but other than that, there don't seem to be
many advantages.
But I don;t like commuting on our local freeways in the rain. Wet weather
seems to make idiots out of the morons, so I just hop in the cage and join
the moron-mob on the freeway.

Hey now! We Floridians ride in T-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops 8 months out
of the year. For another two months, we wear jeans, sneakers, and a sweater.
For worst two months, we put on our winter gear, heated and all. I mean, who
the hell rides without heated jackets, gloves, socks, and gloves when it's
under 70 degrees?

Hey Zach, you weather down there is super, but your riding logic sucks! (no
harm meant). As much as I love riding sportbikes, and I do love to ride
them, no way you would catch me in the gear you mentioned above. No way
under the sun.
I wear protective gear at all times, even I am just going two blocks to the
store..
Luck to you, and hope you be around to enjoy all that good weather too..
