Carb Jetting - As evidenced in past RMD threads, I'm not a genius at carb jetting. My bike appears to be jetted perfectly for the here though. No anywhere in the throttle range. Our elevation is around 600' above sea level. That said, I..

carb jetting questions, again... - I've been playing with the carb on my GG280. It had very rich jetting, so I swapped carbs with my other 280 and it seemed to run So, I decided I would closely the jetting. I leaned the main (dropping from 120 to 114), but..

TNGB revisited - Had a chance to down a couple brews with Stumpy last night. Haven't seen him in a loooong time. He hasn't changed a bit, MikeB, was good to see ya again. Let me know when you pass this way again. MikeW, good to see you too! It was too..

Bent Bars - Revisited - I just posted a photo on of the bar clamps off of my '85 RM-250. I think I've figured out why my bars felt like they were bent! PS--How would one go about clamps like these? Or where would one find the..

jetting for altitude - So, since I'm probably going hiking in Idaho soon, I figure I'll bring my bike along and maybe take a spin while I'm in the area. Bike is a KDX220. I'm currently jetted for sea level (and finally so)... what kind of changes should I expect to..

After work this evening I went and picked up the old RM from
storage, brought it home, and tore into the carburetor to see exactly
what the jetting was...

Just as I figured, totally stock. 320 main, 50 pilot and needle in
the second (from the top) groove.

I already ordered 310, 300 and 290 mains of the correct fitting,
but I apparently screwed up by ordering NON-BLEED 45 and 42.5 pilots
(because the pilot in there now has four bleed holes). Am I correct in
assuming that these non-bleed pilots won't work in my application?

Also, from Motorcycle Superstore both the regular and non-bleed
pilot jets come in 42.5 and 47.5 in addition to 45. Since the
suggested size for Baumgartner altitude (and my application) is 46 (as
provided by David Smith), should I acquire all three sizes and put in
the 45 before departing?

Thanks for the help!

I was at the Mammoth Motocross a few years back and had a chance to
talk to Ty Davis between motos. I asked him about jetting and he said
he goes down two main sizes for that race and leaves the pilot jets
stock. (8000 feet). OF

That's because he is never near idle when racing.
